I am using AT Business, which I understand is a child theme of Business Key theme. Will updates to the Business Key theme affect the AT Business theme? Basically, I want to know if I need to create a child of (or a duplicate child theme) AT Business if I don’t want my changes deleted by updates?

    Hi @ARCSWFL,

AT Business is the child theme of Business Key theme. Updating the parent theme i.e. Business Key will not affect the changes you have done on child theme.

Do you want to change core file of AT Business (child theme)?

So, updates made on your end will likely be done to the Business Key theme, not the AT Business theme?
I don’t have plans to change a core file (I’m not even sure why or how one would do that (sorry, noob here)), but I was wondering if it is necessary to create a copy/child before making any major changes to AT Business theme.

Lets say, for example, that I wanted to change the color of the “call us box” at the header menu from blue to green. I think that might require changing the css style sheet (I have no idea how to do this yet). If you update the Business Key, my green box will remain. If you update AT Business, I lose the green box(unless I create a child). Is that correct?

BTW, I do want to change the color of that box…is that a CSS style sheet change?

    Hi @ARCSWFL

Note that AT Business is already the child theme of a Business Key theme. So you cannot have grandchild theme of a child theme.

You can change color with custom CSS. Please go to Appearance -> Customize -> Additional CSS and add your CSS.
