Change default template

It appears that the default template is “content-primary sidebar.” This means that some plugins that create a special page use that default template but do not show the place on the page to change the template. My preference is that it would default to “no sidebar.” Is there a way to change things so that when a new page is created with a default template it automatically starts with “no sidebar.”?
