    Is there a way to add additional Google fonts to the theme?

    Yes, Google fonts could be customized but you would have to create child theme and override a function in parent theme. Theme used x_corporate_get_web_fonts() for the list of Google fonts. You can copy this function in the child theme and customize accordingly.
