Installation

Installing your theme is pretty easy! After downloading you should have a magazine-point-pro.zip file. This is a compressed file containing all of the required templates and images required for the theme to function properly.

Upload the theme

  1. Go to Appearance > Themes in the WordPress Dashboard
  2. Click on the Add New button
  3. Click on the Upload link
  4. Select the magazine-point-pro.zip file
  5. Click Install Now

Activate the theme

  1. Go to Appearance > Themes in the WordPress menu
  2. Hover over the theme thumbnail and press the Activate button

So, How to setup the theme for the first time ?

Menu

By default, the menus will fall back to Pages. That means just after activation of the theme you will see all the pages as menus. If you want selective menus with a combination of links, pages, categories then custom menu is what you should be looking for.

Set up Primary Menu

  1. Go to Appearance > Menus in the WordPress menu
  2. Click on Create a new menu link
  3. Give a name to your menu in Menu Name and click Create Menu button
  4. Now choose the pages, categories, custom links from the left-side of your screen by selecting the checkbox and click on Add Menu
  5. Select the display location as Primary Menu
  6. Click Save Menu after adding required pages, categories in the menu

Set up Footer Menu

  1. Go to Appearance > Menus in the WordPress menu
  2. Click on Create a new menu link
  3. Give a name to your menu in Menu Name and click Create Menu button
  4. Now choose the pages, categories, custom links from the left-side of your screen by selecting the checkbox and click on Add Menu
  5. Select the display location as Footer Menu
  6. Click Save Menu after adding required pages, categories in the menu

Set up Social Menu

  1. Go to Appearance > Menus in the WordPress menu
  2. Click on Create a new menu link
  3. Give a name to your menu in Menu Name and click Create Menu button
  4. Now choose the custom links from the left-side of your screen by selecting the checkbox. Add the link to your social site and suitable title.
  5. Click on Add Menu
  6. Select the display location as Social Menu
  7. Click Save Menu after adding required links in the menu.

Theme Options:

Featured News:

Here you can select your featured news posts under a certain category. Just go to Dashboard -> Appearance -> Customize -> Theme Options -> Featured News and select a category to show on the featured news section. Piece of cake 😉

Top Header:

To setup top header just go to Dashboard  > Appearance > Customize > Theme Options > Header Options. 

Here, you will have multiple options on what to show or hide on the top header like :

  • Show/Hide Site Title/Tagline
  • Enter Contact Number and Email
  • Show/Hide Social Icon
  • Show/Hide Search Form
  • Enable Sticky Header

Widgets

Image widget:

This is a WP default widget. In the demo the widget is used on the Top Header Widget area. This widget is pretty straight forward just select an image, give a title if you want to.

MP: Posts Slider:

To set up this widget the basic thing is to create a category add some posts to it and select the category on the widget. After that just add title on the widget, select number of posts to display and finally select the image size. In the demo the widget is used on the Front Page Main widget area.

MP: News Block:

This widget highlights your news / blog you want to display on your site. This is a true magazine type widget. The basic thing to do is to select a category to show on the widget and the posts under the category will be shown beautifully. You can also select the number of posts to show, the number of columns the widget will be divided to and many more features. In the demo the widget is used on the Front Page Main widget area twice.

MP: Featured Page:

This widget is a “Page Highlighter” widget. Here you can select a page to feature on the widget area. You will just have to add the page to be displayed via this widget and set the options as per your requirement. You can easily figure out the options as they are very plain and simple but very useful.

MP: Category Columns:

This is a 3 column widget where you can select 3 categories that will be displayed in their columns. This is also one of the beautiful widgets which is bound to highlight your magazine website.

MP: Call To Action:

This is a basic call to action widget which is recommended to add on the Front Page Widget Area. This widget has multiple options and is very flexible. You will just have to add title, its content, set text and url to its buttons and set background image if you need it and you are done 🙂

Note:  You can upload a background image for the CTA widget or use existing images from media library just make sure  you use FULL SIZE from Attachment Display Settings on the media uploader. The recommended size for the CTA background is any size greater than 1020 × 315 according to your requirement.

MP: Post Carousel:

To set up this widget the basic thing is to create a category add some posts to it and select the category on the widget. After that just add title on the widget, select number of posts to display and finally select the image size. In the demo the widget is used on the Front Page Bottom widget area.

MP: Recent Posts Extended:

To set up this widget the basic thing is to create a category add some posts to it and select the category on the widget. After that just add title on the widget, select number of posts to display and finally select the image size. In the demo the widget is used on the Primary Sidebar widget area.

MP: Tabbed:

To set up this widget the basic thing is to create a category add some posts to it and select the category on the widget. After that just add title on the widget, select number of posts to display and finally select the image size. In the demo the widget is used on the Primary Sidebar widget area.

MP:Social:

This widget uses the social menu (Refer to the social menu section ) to add social links to your widget areas. This widget can be used in both front page widget area and on any footer widget area but as stated earlier make sure you have configured a social menu.

Color Options:

The theme provides maximum color option compared to any other theme of any other theme companies. You can easily check and customize the color options form Dashboard > Appearance > Customize > Color Options. We have tired to provide as much as color option as possible, just so you will not have to have hassles of writing CSS code to change colors on the site. Just check color option of your required section, choose the color  and save, easy breezy ðŸ™‚

Layout Options:

The theme provides couple of site layout option including Boxed and Fluid site layout. The theme also provides NINE content layouts which is one of our key features and also one of our main attraction according to our customers. Use these layouts to make your site attractive and more importantly achieve your site goals.

Just go to Dashboard > Appearance > Customize > Theme Options > Layout Options to change your site and content layouts.

Font Family Options:

The theme also provides more than 50 Google font family options. You can change the font family option from Dashboard > Appearance > Customize > Theme Options > Font Family Options. You will have option to change the font family of different aspects of the theme like Site Title, Body font, Heading Font etc.

Additional CSS:

If you have any changes you want to make via CSS you will not have to worry about creating a child theme or loosing your changes. Just go to Dashboard > Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS and paste the css, your CSS will be safe and will also be implemented on the theme after you save it.
